A 21-year-old Pennsylvania college student said on a livestream Tuesday that Jan. 6 is not a top concern for him or his peers as they decide who to vote for in this election cycle.
President Joe Biden and the corporate media have repeatedly characterized former President Donald Trump as a “threat to democracy,” especially after the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. During political analyst Mark Halperin’s 2Way Election Night livestream, Halperin asked the student, named Lars, how he was able to get over Jan. 6 to consider voting for Trump.
“I’m originally from New York City, but I go to college up here in Pennsylvania, and January 6 for my dad is like the biggest issue ever. It’s the one reason that he can’t not vote for a Democrat in this election and the past one, and, to me, it just, it isn’t on the list of issues that matter,” Lars said.

“One of the questions that I was gonna ask you about is illegal immigration, and a very deep fear I have is that with everyone that’s coming into the country, there’s gonna be a real issue with election integrity moving forward. I know that it’s kind of overblown in the media, but that’s a real issue,” Lars continued. “My mom rides the subway every day. I’m scared for safety, and I think also as a 21-year-old entering the job market, it’s really important for other men my age, and a lot of girls too, just that we have a strong economy, that we find our place in this country. So really, Jan. 6 just isn’t something that I think myself or a lot of other people my age really care that much about, to be honest.”
During a Democratic National Committee (DNC) office party in New Hampshire on Oct. 22, Biden called for Trump to be “locked up,” but he quickly clarified he meant “politically” locked up. In addition to Biden and the corporate media, Vice President Kamala Harris labeled Trump a fascist during her CNN Town Hall event on Oct. 24 and argued in her closing speech last week that a second Trump administration would harm democracy.
