President Donald Trump launched his attacks on Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) shortly after presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden selected her as his running mate, but he is adamant he does not take issue with her being in the race.

During his press briefing on Friday, a reporter noted Trump has been “very blunt” about how he feels about Harris.

Trump quickly fired back explaining how Harris treated Biden “worse” than anyone else during the debates.

The reporter asked Trump if he has “an issue with a strong woman of color being in this presidential race.”

“None whatsoever, as you know. None whatsoever, not at all,” Trump said.

Biden made the announcement Harris would be joining the ticket on Tuesday, labeling her “a fearless fighter for the little guy” and “one of the country’s finest public servants,” as IJR previously reported.

It was not long before Trump’s campaign slammed Harris calling her “phony.”

During his press briefing on Tuesday, Trump said he was surprised by Biden’s decision because Harris had been “very, very nasty” to Biden, and “it’s hard to pick somebody that that’s disrespectful,” as IJR previously reported.

Biden’s campaign spokesperson Andrew Bates released a statement in response to Trump’s remarks.

Bates said Trump’s presidency is crumbling “after his failed, divisive, erratic leadership has cost over 160,000 American lives, tens of millions of jobs, and left the United States the hardest-hit country in the world by COVID-19.”

He argued Trump is “dumbfounded after Joe Biden’s selection of a strong running mate.”

In their first appearance as running mates, Biden defended Harris, claiming it is no surprise Trump takes issue with “a strong woman or strong women across the board.”
