Kinzinger: GOP Should Be ‘Way More Decisive’ With How to Address Greene

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) is urging the Republican party to be “way more decisive” in its approach to addressing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).

Co-host of “The View” Joy Behar asked Kinzinger, “Why don’t they just come out and say ‘get her off, she’s an outrage… and she is in fact a cancer on the GOP, and we’re better than that.’ Why don’t they just come out and say that?”

Kinzinger explained he did not know the answer to the question because “that’s what they should say.”

He noted House Republicans are mulling removing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from her leadership post due to her vote to impeach President Donald Trump.

Kinzinger argued Cheney’s conservative credentials are “unmatched” and she “voted her conscience.”

He turned his attention back on Greene and suggested it should be clear to Republicans as to how they should go about handling her past comments.

“Then we’re debating and kind of hem hawing over what to do with Jewish space laser conspiracies and Sandy Hook truthers and 9/11 truthers. That’s really what the battle for the heart and soul of the party is,” Kinzinger said.

He added, “We need to be way more decisive about this. In my mind, this isn’t even a debate—this is not who we are as a party and as a country and should not be acceptable.”

Kinzinger criticized Greene last week and suggested she does not deserve to be on any committees, as IJR reported.

During an appearance on  CNN’s “New Day,” he said she should not “have the privilege of any committees.”

Greene blasted a reported proposal by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to seemingly remove her from one of her committees for her previous controversial comments, as IJR reported.

“No matter what [Kevin McCarthy] does it would never be enough for the hate America Democrats. As much as he genuinely tries to work with [Speaker Pelosi] for the good of this country, she refuses to see the hypocrisy of her own conference,” Greene wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

She went on, “They are only set out to destroy Republicans, your jobs, our economy, your children’s education and lives, steal our freedoms, and erase God’s creation. And the bloodthirsty media are their henchmen who help them by relentlessly attacking anyone in their path.”

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) suggested Democrats are prepared to hold a vote to remove Greene from her committee assignments on Thursday.
