New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) is accusing New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) of standing in the way of the fight against COVID-19.

On Sunday, de Blasio was asked by CBS’ Margaret Brennan if he believes Cuomo will resign as several women have accused him of sexual misconduct.

“I think he’ll try to hold out,” he said. “I think he’s used to getting things his way, and it’s been an almost imperial governorship. But, I gotta tell you, the folks in this state and the political leadership don’t believe him anymore. He doesn’t have any credibility.”

De Blasio continued, “So, I think an impeachment proceeding will begin. And I think he will be impeached. And perhaps right before that, he’ll decide to resign, that’s probably the most likely outcome right now.”

Finally, he claimed, “He should resign right now because he’s holding up our effort to fight Covid. He’s literally in the way of us saving lives.”

De Blasio previously called on Cuomo to resign after multiple women accused the governor of sexual harassment.

“The specific allegation that the governor called an employee of his, someone who he had power over, called them to a private place and then sexually assaulted her, it’s absolutely unacceptable,” he told reporters on Thursday.

He added, “It is disgusting to me, and he can no longer serve as governor.”

While dozens of state lawmakers and over 16 members of New York’s Congressional delegation have called for Cuomo to resign, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said, “I think we should see the results of the [investigation], but he may decide, hopefully, this result will be soon. And what I’m saying is the governor should look inside his heart, he loves New York, to see if he can govern effectively. And that could be one of the considerations that he has.”
