Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was forced to exit a restaurant after protesters showed up at the location.

Politico reported that on Wednesday night protesters in D.C. were made aware that Kavanaugh was dining at Morton’s downtown location.

The protesters later showed up at the front of the restaurant demanding the manager kick Kavanaugh out.

The account for the protesters called ShutDownDC later tweeted, “We hear Kavanaugh snuck out the back with his security detail. [Morton’s] should be ashamed for welcoming a man who so clearly hates women.”

A person familiar with the situation told Politico Kavanaugh did not hear or see the protesters and was able to eat a full meal but left before dessert.

A representative for Morton’s sent a statement to Politico’s Daniel Lippman.

“Honorable Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh and all of our other patrons at the restaurant were unduly harassed by unruly protestors while eating dinner at our Morton’s restaurant,” the representative said.

The statement continued, “Politics, regardless of your side or views, should not trample the freedom at play of the right to congregate and eat dinner. There is a time and place for everything. Disturbing the dinner of all of our customers was an act of selfishness and void of decency.”

The incident comes less than a month after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Shortly after the ruling a man was charged with attempting to murder Kavanaugh, as CNN reported.

An FBI affidavit shows Nicholas John Roske had flown from California to the Washington area with a pistol, ammo clips and burglary tools, intent on killing the Supreme Court justice.

Additionally, last week, more than 180 abortion rights protesters were arrested outside of the Supreme Court, as IJR reported.

Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) was among the protesters that were arrested.
