Reality stars Todd Chrisley and his wife Julie Chrisley were sentenced to federal prison.

On Monday in Atlanta, Todd Chrisley received 12 years in prison, while Julie Chrisley was sentenced to 7 years, per Fox 5 Atlanta. The couple will also have 16 months of probation after their prison terms.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Todd and Julie Chrisley’s report date is set for Jan. 15, 2023.

The Chrisleys were convicted in June by a federal jury of “conspiring to defraud Atlanta banks,” per the outlet, and “prosecutors said they defrauded banks out of more than $30 million of fraudulent loans.”

Per WSB-TV Atlanta: “Prosecutors said the Chrisleys took out $30 million in fraudulent bank loans to fund their lavish lifestyle and extravagant spending even before they become reality television stars. They used a film production company they controlled to hide income to keep the IRS from collecting unpaid taxes owed by Todd Chrisley, prosecutors said.”

In a pre-sentencing court filing, prosecutors wrote:

“The Chrisleys have built an empire based on the lie that their wealth came from dedication and hard work. The jury’s unanimous verdict sets the record straight: Todd and Julie Chrisley are career swindlers who have made a living by jumping from one fraud scheme to another, lying to banks, stiffing vendors, and evading taxes at every corner.”

There was a request made during sentencing recommendations by Julie Chrisley’s lawyers that if the couple was sentenced, they could have it staggered in order to supervise their granddaughter until Todd Chrisley’s release or the granddaughter turns 18, according to Fox News. The couple has custody of their 10-year-old granddaughter.

An accountant hired by the Chrisleys was also found guilty and will serve three years in prison, beginning in May. He was “found guilty and charged with two counts of willfully filing false tax returns,” per Fox News.
