Vice President Kamala Harris sparked conversation on Twitter with an explanation about how astronauts took off in a rocket.

During a Congressional Space Medal of Honor ceremony to honor former NASA astronauts Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnke, Harris said, “Which brings me to May 30th, 2020. Bob and Doug returned to the Kennedy Space Center. They suited up. They waved to their families, and they rode an elevator up nearly 20 stories.”

She continued, “They strapped in to their seats and waited as the tanks beneath filled with tens of thousands of gallons of fuel. And then they launched.”

Harris smiled, laughed, and said, “Yeah, they did.”

The vice president has a history of awkward moments during her time with the Biden administration.

In October, she went on a bizarre rant about school buses, as IJR previously reported.

“Here’s the thing, who doesn’t love a yellow school bus? Can you raise your hand if you love a yellow school bus?” Harris asked while delivering remarks in Seattle, Washington.

She added, “Many of us went to school on the yellow school bus, right? And it’s part of our experience growing up. It’s part of a nostalgia and a member of the excitement and joy of going to school to be with your favorite teacher, to be with your best friends, and to learn. The school bus takes us there.”

Last month, Harris awkwardly laughed while swearing in Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) as the first female mayor of Los Angeles.
