Vice President Kamala Harris spent the run-up to the midterm election talking about her love of yellow school buses.

But since the election, she seems to have been keeping a little bit of a lower profile. However, she was in Los Angeles on Sunday to swear in Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) as the first female mayor of the city.

And the video shows the moment was about as awkward as you might expect.

One clip shows Bass finishing her oath, which is when things get weird.

“Madam Mayor,” Harris declares as she stretches out her hand to shake the new mayor’s hand.

As loud cheering could be heard, Bass appeared to make a bowing motion. Then the vice president burst out in laughter while shaking Bass’ hand for a little longer than seemed natural.

The laughter went on for 10 seconds.

This is not the first time the vice president experienced a strange outburst of laughter. Over the past two years, she has faced criticism for laughing in response to questions she appeared unprepared for.

But one of the more uncomfortable moments came during her trip to Poland earlier this year when she was asked about Ukrainian refugees.

“Okay,” Harris said as she started to laugh while looking over to Polish President Andrzej Duda, adding, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”

She then burst out laughing for several seconds. Meanwhile, Duda signaled that Harris could tackle the question first before he addressed it.

Duda did laugh as well but was able to pull himself together quicker.

If Harris wants to have a hope of being successful a presidential candidate in the future, she’s going to have to figure out how to reign in the laughter.

It’s just strange and uncomfortable when it seems inappropriate, or just too long for the moment.
