A conservative organization is placing mobile billboards around the site of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago this week to highlight some of the drawbacks of President Joe Biden’s sweeping climate agenda.
The Alliance for Consumers, a consumer protection advocacy group, is paying for the billboards around the United Center that will highlight how “expectations” for certain Biden climate policies have differed from “reality,” as well as how some policies like those that push electric vehicles (EVs) could be benefiting China. Since assuming office in 2021, the Biden administration has spent at least $1 trillion on climate initiatives, including hundreds of billions of dollars of green energy subsidies unleashed by the Inflation Reduction Act.
“The clean energy promises being pitched by coastal elites have completely failed. Despite the manufactured hype, consumer demand for EVs is practically nonexistent, and taxpayers are funding a transition built on child labor and foreign dependence,” OH Skinner, executive director of the Alliance for Consumers, said in a statement shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Biden’s $7.5 billion investment in EV charging has yielded just seven stations, and his policies endorse ‘Made in China’ at the expense of American jobs.”

“This isn’t just a policy failure; it’s a moral failure that leaves American consumers and workers paying the price,” Skinner continued. “Instead of pushing Progressive Lifestyle Choices on everyday people that are popular only in coastal enclaves, and burning money to boost foreign governments and child labor, it’s high time we let consumers decide for themselves what to buy.”
Alliance for Consumers’ billboards take aim at prominent Democratic officials like Biden, Vice President Kamala Harrisand her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, for their association with climate policies that are “failing at every turn” and “not what consumers want.” Other billboards show the “expectations” of the green energy transition, represented by a generic photo of an American family standing by a charging EV, next to the “reality,” represented by headlines about the EV market’s slow growth and on the presence of child labor in mineral supply chains needed for mass-production of the vehicles.
The Biden administration has regulated aggressively and spent billions of dollars to enhance EV adoption, production and infrastructure, but the EV push has struggled to take off as manufacturers are losing money, consumers are dragging their feet and executives are starting to back away from some short-term production targets. Critics of the EV and broader green energy agendas have pointed out that China could benefit massively from these policies given its control of essential global supply chains for minerals.
The Democratic National Committee did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
