Regulators Recall Nearly All Tesla Cybertrucks

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Thursday that it is recalling almost all Tesla Cybertrucks that have been sold since last year.

According to the Associated Press, the recall is for over 46,000 Cybertrucks after it was discovered the side panels running the length of the vehicle could become detached and cause roads hazards and/or a crash.

The AP further reported the NHTSA found that the stainless-steel strip between the windshield and roof is attached using structural adhesive and recommends the use of additional reinforcements and an adhesive that doesn’t degrade.

The recall extends to 2024 and 2025 models with a manufacturing date between November 13, 2024, and February 27, 2025.

Over the past 15 months, Tesla Cybertrucks have been recalled eight times, for various reasons including safety concerns over faulty electric inverters potentially causing the vehicles to lose power of the drive wheels. Acceleration pedals were also sticking, while other recalls were for faults in the vehicle’s windshield wiper. Tesla said it will be replacing the panel for free.

The AP reported that Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s involvement in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and becoming a close adviser to President Donald Trump has resulted in a spate of vandalism against Tesla Cybertruck owners.

At the news of the recall, social media users on Musk’s platform X did not hold back on making a mockery of the world’s richest man.
