California Governor Gavin Newsom has once again proven that the only consistent thing about him is his inconsistency.

On Thursday, the governor distanced himself from his own taxpayer-funded press office after conservative commentator Ben Shapiro pressed him on a deeply controversial post from the official @GovPressOffice X account — a post that outrageously labeled an ICE-involved shooting as “STATE. SPONSORED. TERRORISM.”

This is the verified, public-facing communications arm of the Governor of California. And yet, its posts often read like a high school burn book — or something scribbled in a spiral notebook by Beavis and Butt-Head. One such post even suggested former Trump adviser Stephen Miller resembled a member of Hitler’s SS — a disgraceful jab that should’ve never made it out of draft, let alone onto a state-run account.

But here’s the kicker: when Newsom was forced to stand by that post on his own podcast — This Is Gavin Newsom — he folded like a cheap lawn chair.

Shapiro laid it out plainly: “Your press office tweeted out that it was state-sponsored terrorism, which, I mean governor, I just have to ask you about that. That sort of thing makes our politics worse, and it does.”

Newsom’s response? Just one word: “Yeah.”

Shapiro pressed further: “Our ICE officers obviously are not terrorists. A tragic situation is not state-sponsored terrorism.”

And again, Newsom caved: “Yeah, I think that’s fair.”

Let’s be crystal clear — this wasn’t a casual post by some campaign intern. This came from the official voice of California’s governor. And rather than back up the public message coming from his office, Newsom ran for cover. As of this writing, the tweet is still live. No retraction. No apology. No correction. Just silence.

🚨 NEW: Gavin Newsom ORDERED a “CODE-RED” and ordered his base to “PUSH BACK” against the “GESTAPO”— guess what happened? an ICE Facility was SHOT UP just hours later 🚨

Should Governor Newsom retract the controversial post from his press office?

This is par for the course for Newsom. Back in March, he told Charlie Kirk on the same podcast that letting biological males compete in women’s sports was “deeply unfair.” His exact words: “I think it’s an issue of fairness, I completely agree with you on that.”

But what happened next? Absolutely nothing. No policy shift. No statement. No executive action. Meanwhile, girls across California kept losing out on medals, scholarships, and roster spots — all while Newsom pretended to care on one show and sided with radical activists in courtrooms and press releases.

Now, he’s suing the Trump DOJ over protections for women’s sports — claiming that barring biological males from female competitions causes “serious harm” to transgender students. But what about the serious harm actually happening to the girls forced to compete against boys? Crickets.

This isn’t leadership. It’s cowardice wrapped in a $400 haircut.

Newsom wants to be all things to all people. When he’s with Shapiro, he’s a man of fairness and reason. When he’s with the activist class, he’s waving the flag of “inclusion” no matter how much harm it causes.

What do we learn from all this? Two things stand out: if you work in Newsom’s press office, you shouldn’t expect him to have your back, because he’ll throw you under the bus the moment it’s convenient. And at a deeper level, Newsom appears to have no core convictions, willing to say whatever it takes to get through the next interview, podcast, or fundraising cycle.

Frankly, with that level of pliability, he might just be better suited to a career as a chatbot. At least then, someone could program him to tell the truth.
