A substitute teacher’s shocking behavior inside a Florida classroom abruptly ended her job and led to criminal charges after a chaotic outburst in front of students.
According to the New York Post, the incident unfolded Monday at Lake Minneola High School in Minneola, where authorities say Angela Faith Jourdan acted erratically, made explicit remarks, and allegedly became physically aggressive toward a student.
School officials moved quickly to cut ties.
“Good afternoon. We are aware of the arrest. Parents have been notified. The substitute teacher was hired 2/4/2025, and employment was terminated today,” the district said in a statement to News 6.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Jourdan made disturbing comments during class, including telling students she would engage in sexual activity with them and referring to herself as a “million dollar prostitute.”
Deputies say her behavior escalated beyond verbal remarks.
She was allegedly “twerking” in the classroom, yelling loudly, and slamming her hands on a desk, drawing concern from students and staff.
One student told investigators the situation turned physical as the period ended.
“As the bell rang and students began exiting, [REDACTED] stated she was among the last to leave when Ms. Jourdan yelled at her, called her a derogatory name, and placed her hands on [REDACTED] head and the back of her neck before moving her hand toward [REDACTED] throat,” a case report states.
A school resource deputy responded around 10:20 a.m. and found Jourdan “yelling incoherently,” according to the report.
Administrators attempted to remove her, but she refused.
“Assistant Principal Pannett entered and instructed Ms. Jourdan to gather her belongings and leave the classroom,” the report reads.
“Ms. Jourdan refused, stating that she did not want to be (Tasered).”
Law enforcement then stepped in.
Deputies restrained Jourdan and escorted her from the classroom as she continued arguing, according to body camera footage obtained by News 6.
“I am not a threat and I will not be killed,” she said. “I already got tased by the police in Pine Hills and I double-dare you.”
“You thought that was a weapon, right? Then you’re gonna say I was a threat,” she added.
Jourdan was handcuffed and removed from the school.
Authorities noted she has a history of bipolar disorder and said her behavior suggested a possible “mental health episode.”
She faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, simple battery, and two counts of disrupting a school function.
Bill Mathias said he was quickly briefed on the incident and praised how students handled the ordeal.
“That was very moving to me,” Mathias said, noting that many appeared to respond with empathy, believing the situation may have involved a mental health crisis.
