Sander was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American humor in March, via The Kennedy Center, where friend and fellow comedian Rob Schneider paid him a tribute.

Schneider sang and joked, “You put me in like 25 movies, how about we do 50 more.”

“You make people laugh like there’s nothing to it,” the lyrics went on.

He even sang, “You bite your tongue when I say something crazy on Fox News,” as he finished the classic Wedding Singer song, “I Wanna Grow Old With You.”

The Kennedy Center also posted a video of Sandler’s acceptance speech where he joked, “Hello, my name is Adam Sandler and I am the 2023 Mark Twain Prize Award recipient for greatness in American funny, and bringing the thunderous belly laugh to the sweet people of planet Earth.”

He thanked his friends for speaking so well of him and declared, “The whole time I was listening to you, I was filled with gratitude that the original people The Kennedy Center asked to come couldn’t make it.”

“To my family who flew in from New Hampshire and Florida to watch me get this award, yes, I will pay for your hotel rooms,” he added.

Sandler went on to apologize for making fun of his mother and expressed gratitude to his family for being there for him and encouraging him to be confident and keep being funny.
