A Young girl from Texas has had a school experience unlike most kids her age.
Alena Analeigh Wicker graduated high school at just 12 years old and got accepted into medical school.
Wicker, 13, is currently enrolled at Arizona State University and Oakwood University studying biological science. After she graduates from those undergraduate programs, in 2024, she will be attending Heersink School of Medicine at the University of Alabama, according to âGood Morning America.â
Speaking on her accomplishment, Wicker said, âAfter I was accepted, it was the most amazing moment, and just knowing I reached the goal of getting into med school at this age was amazing for me.â
Wicker said that her goal is to become a viral immunologist, which is the study of viruses.
She also loves to âget involvedâ and volunteer which includes feeding the homeless or mentoring young girls.
Proverbs 18:16 says, âA manâs gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.â
Wicker gave some words of encouragement to those who want to achieve their dreams regardless of their age.

âWell, first I would say donât let anybody tell you no because there was a lot of people who told me no or that I couldnât do what I dreamed to do,â she said.
She also mentioned the importance of having a support system around her.
âThey were there when I needed them and they gave me that support to say, donât give up on your dreams.â
Wicker said her mom had been her biggest support and âalways gave her opportunities over thingsâ and believed in her.
Apart from her education, Wicker has also started an organization called Brown Stem Girl to advocate for women and girls who look like her wanting to get into the STEM field.
âThatâs what struck my passion for advocating for them, really giving them those opportunities and showing them that they can do whatever they put their mind to. They can have the same path as me and become whatever they want to become without anybody telling them itâs impossible,â she said.
