A Kentucky man who won a record-setting $167 million Powerball jackpot has been arrested again, marking his fourth legal case since receiving his Lottery winnings.
James Farthing, of rural Kentucky, was charged with strangulation and assault related to domestic violence after an alleged incident at his Georgetown home Sunday morning, according to WHAS 11.
Authorities said Farthing returned home after a boating trip and became involved in an argument with a woman. An arrest warrant alleges the confrontation escalated, with Farthing placing his hands around the woman’s neck.
The alleged victim had visible welts on her neck, according to the warrant.
The arrest is the latest in a series of legal issues involving Farthing since he won Kentucky’s largest-ever Powerball prize last year.
Farthing’s Lottery win made headlines after he claimed the massive jackpot, but prosecutors have since dealt with multiple cases involving him.
He was indicted in connection with a hit-and-run case from November, according to WHAS 11.
He is also facing charges related to an incident in Florida where he allegedly kicked a sheriff’s deputy in the face.
The domestic violence charges add to a growing list of legal problems that have followed his sudden financial windfall.
Farthing’s latest case remains pending, and the allegations against him have not been proven in court.
