A federal grand jury has indictedĀ threeĀ people in connection with the April 11 assault on Turning Point USA Frontlines reporter Savanah Hernandez, the Department of Justice said.

TheĀ assaultĀ of Hernandez on April 11 near the Whipple Federal Building in St. Paul was caught on video later posted by the TPUSA journalist on X, prompting Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet K. Dhillon to say, ā€œOn itā€ inĀ response.Ā Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the indictment in a Wednesday afternoonĀ postĀ on X.

ā€œToday, Christopher, Deyanna, and Paige Ostrouchko were indicted by a grand jury for allegedly assaulting journalist and Turning Point USA contributor Savannah Hernandez, while she was lawfully reporting on anti-ICE protests outside a federal building in St. Paul,ā€ Blanche said. ā€œHernandez was allegedly surrounded, physically assaulted, and shoved to the ground — simply because she was identified by the defendants as a conservative journalist. That is NOT ā€˜peaceful protest.’ These deplorable actions as charged in the indictment will not be tolerated in America, and this Department of Justice will always punish unhinged acts of political violence.ā€

Hernandez identified a father and daughter as being involved in the attack where she was punched, shoved andĀ thrown to the ground repeatedlyĀ by the angry mob, later reporting in a follow-upĀ postĀ that she was suffering from a headache and stiff neck after the incident.

ā€œA federal grand jury has decided to bring indictments against two of the violent protesters who assaulted me in Minneapolis,ā€ HernandezĀ postedĀ Wednesday. ā€œNo word yet on which of the three are being indicted, but I’m EXTREMELY grateful to the DOJ for moving so swiftly on this Justice is coming.ā€

Hernandez expressed gratitude for the indictments after Blanche made the announcement of the three.

ā€œThank you so much for your swift action in this case,ā€ she said in a reply to Blanche. ā€œI truly cannot express how grateful I am, not only behalf of myself, but also every single American this sets precedent for.ā€

AĀ videoĀ posted April 13 appears to show the attack on Hernandez being planned, and the fatherĀ is seen telling his daughter, aĀ soccer playerĀ at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, to get the whistle from the car and to blow the whistle in Hernandez’s ear prior to Hernandez being attacked.

Blowing a whistle into a person’s ear can cause temporary or permanent hearing loss by damaging the cochlea, which are hairs inside the inner ear,Ā accordingĀ to the Cleveland Clinic.

Hernandez and the Department of Justice did not respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
