A 2020 interview former President Donald Trump gave to CBS Newsâ â60 Minutesâ is resurfacing after the network reported on the authenticity of a computer believed to belong to Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden.
On Monday, radio host Clay Travis tweeted, âTwo years ago Donald Trump told CBSâs Lesley Stahl on 60 Minutes the Hunter Biden laptop was real and should be covered by the media. Stahl said it couldnât be verified.â
âTwo years later has finally verified it. Trump was right. Again,â he added.
During the interview, Trump said about the laptop, âI think itâs one of the biggest scandals Iâve ever seen, and you donât cover itâŚyou want to talk about insignificant things.â
âBecause it canât be verified,â CBS Newsâ Leslie Stahl interjected.
However, the former president pushed back, âOf course, it can be verified. Excuse me. They found the laptopâŚâ
When Stahl repeated her claim that the laptop cannot be verified, Trump asked, âWhy do you say that?â

The New York Post first reported on the contents of the laptop in 2020 which was reportedly abandoned at a computer repair shop in Delaware. At the time, over 50 former intelligence officials signed a letter asserting that the laptop âhas all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.â
âIf we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this,â the letter added.
But on Monday, âCBS Morningsâ featured a segment by reporter Catherine Herridge about data found on the computer.
âThe laptop data we had analyzed showed no evidence it was faked or tampered with,â Herridge said.
Mark Lanterman, a digital forensic analyst, told the network he is confident the data on the laptop belongs to Hunter Biden and is real.

Another analyst told Herridge, âJust the sheer volume of what weâre dealing with, it would be difficult if not impossible to fabricate.â
Other outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post have also reported contents found on the laptop are authentic.
