Some have not taken too kindly to advice actress Emily Blunt about Employment.
After a recent interview on Betchesâ âPicture Day,â Blunt received backlash after encouraging young professionals to âquitâ their jobs if theyâre unhappy.
Blunt plays Emily Charlton, the senior assistant to Meryl Streepâs Miranda Priestly in âThe Devil Wears Prada 2.â
Bluntâs character became the inspiration behind a viral meme that signified corporate burnout after the first installment was released in 2006.
In the film, an exasperatef Charlton repeats the line, âI love my job. I love my job. I love my job.â
Blunt was asked in the recent interview if she had any advice for âwomen who are hating their jobs right now.â
âQuit ⌠no, I think just find something that you deeply want to do. Even if youâre earning no money, as long as you love it, youâll be happy,â she said.
The responses were swift.
âOooh Emily. If I could. But Iâm not rich enough to quit and have no salary for the time I look for another job,â one person commented on Instagram.
âI love when millionaires tell me to quit my job,â another said.
âCanât quit, need to pay rent,â one wrote. âCanât quit, need to pay rent,â one user wrote.
Another said, âGenuinely terrible advice in the current job market but I would love to be this delusional and out of touch with reality.â
