Actress Emily Blunt sought to clarify advice Tom Cruise gave her after the comments sparked a negative reaction.
In a statement to E! News, Blunt said, âItâs ludicrous that itâs being spun as something that offended me.â
She added, âIt didnât. I shared the story as lightheartedly as it was meant by Tom.â
Blunt shared she âabsolutelyâ adores Cruise.
âHeâs a dear friend and he was a total gem to me. It was said as a joke to make me laugh, which it did in a big way. And itâs still something we laugh about to this day,â she explained.
During an episode of Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnettâs Wondery podcast âSmartLess,â Blunt shared her experience during the production of the sci-fi action film âEdge of Tomorrowâ and a comment Cruise made.
Commenting on the robotic suits they had to wear, Blunt said, âIt was so heavy.â
She continued, âThe first time I put it on I just started to cry in front of Tom and he didnât know what to do. He just stared at me. I was like, âTom, Iâm not sure how Iâm going to get through this shoot,â and just started to cry. I said, âIâm just feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.'â
Blunt told the podcast Cruise âjust stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, âCome on, stop being such a p***y, okay?'â
According to Blunt, she was able to laugh off the comment and they made it through the shoot.

Additionally, Blunt revealed she injured herself while performing a stunt.
âI did this aerial stunt on wires and I was supposed to land on my shoulder, and I landed on my face,â she said.
âEdge of Tomorrowâ made its debut in theaters in 2014.
