Former Vice President Al Gore is expressing deep concern about President Donald Trump’s coronavirus response efforts.

When Gore appeared on MSNBC’s ā€œAll In with Chris Hayes,ā€ he was asked his opinion on where the country currently stands during this pandemic.

The criticized Trump’s leadership, saying the president has made the crisis ā€œall about himself.ā€

ā€œOh boy, Chris, it’s hard to know where to begin,ā€ Gore said. ā€œThere’s no more important role for a president than to lead a nation through a crisis, and that means unifying people, and leading not only your political base, but reaching out to others with whom you disagreed, and Donald Trump has made this all about himself.ā€

See Gore’s remarks below:

Gore went on to reflect on Trump’s decisions over the last several weeks, outlining many of his actions.

ā€œHe has engaged in a kind of a magical thinking. He’s pushed dangerous and potentially deadly snake oil-type remedies,ā€Ā Gore said.

Appearing to allude to Trump’s press briefings, Gore said, ā€œHe’s lashed out at people who have been asking legitimate questions and who have pleaded with him to try to mobilize the federal government’s resources.ā€

Despite his disapproval of the president, Gore continued by noting the Democratic and Republican governors and health experts’ influences, saying they have ā€œbrought a lot of good out in the American people.ā€

However, he still insists this is a ā€œdangerous timeā€ for America. Based on all that has occurred amid the coronavirus pandemic, Gore considers Trump’s performance ā€œdisgraceful.ā€

ā€œWe’ve got to get through this in spite of Donald Trump,ā€ Gore said, adding, ā€œBut it has been an irresponsible, incompetent, and, in many ways, disgraceful performance.ā€

Despite the ongoing criticism he has received, including from the disinfectant comments, Trump insists his administration is doing a good job.
