Anti War Demonstration Occurs In Philadelphia

At the “Hands Off Iran” demonstration, protesters held signs opposing the war and criticizing Israel, President Donald Trump, and Democratic Sen. John Fetterman. In footage that spread widely on Thursday, one speaker praised Hamas and Hezbollah and argued that a “strong Iranian state” is necessary to sustain their fight against Israel.

In the clip, filmed by Philadelphia-based conservative activist Frankie Scales, the masked speaker drew loud applause while saying the group celebrates American deaths and wants to bring the United States “to its knees.”

As of publication, seven U.S. military personnel had been killed or died from wounds tied to hostile action during Operation Epic Fury. Another six died in the crash of an Air Force refueling aircraft supporting the mission.

“Until we have done everything in our power to bring the United States to its knees, let us not lose sight of the enemy,” the speaker said. “For every U.S. military base that crumbles and for every U.S. soldier who returns home in a casket, we cheer. Hamas, Hezbollah, Ansar Allah—all of the resistance forces—we celebrate. These forces are in constant confrontation with Zionism, and they rely on a strong Iranian state to maintain their fighting capacity.”

Afterward, the person filming asked, “Do you hate America?” The speaker responded angrily: “May a Hamas rocket blow up your family’s home.”

Sen. Fetterman was among thousands who reacted to the video on Thursday, calling the rhetoric “appalling” and criticizing fellow Democrats for not speaking out.

“Here in Philadelphia. Truly appalling. These people chanting for the death of our service members,” Fetterman said. “Where’s the outrage and condemnation?”

President Trump announced that U.S. and Israeli forces launched strikes on Iran on Feb. 28 after talks over Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs broke down. In a March 2 interview on Fox News, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff said Iranian negotiators insisted they would continue enriching uranium and claimed to already have enough material for nearly a dozen “dirty” weapons.

In a separate March 14 statement, Hamas commented on Iran’s missile and drone attacks across the Middle East, saying that while Iran has the right to respond to aggression, it should avoid targeting neighboring countries.
