A California man is facing multiple weapons-related allegations after authorities say he was caught monitoring security preparations at President Donald Trump's golf club before the president's scheduled visit, leading investigators to uncover additional firearms and other items at his home.
According to Fox News, Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, was arrested Sunday at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Plainclothes federal agents reportedly observed him walking the property while taking photographs and videos of what appeared to be security-planning activities, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies from the Lomita Sheriff's Station responded to the golf club around 3:30 p.m.
During their investigation, they learned Taele was already under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department in connection with a robbery case.
Authorities said a pat-down of Taele allegedly uncovered a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition in his pants pocket.
Investigators then searched his vehicle, which was parked in the club's parking lot.
According to the sheriff's department, deputies recovered a loaded handgun with a round in the chamber, along with another loaded magazine containing hollow-point ammunition.
Taele was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.
The Arrest prompted detectives from the Sheriff's Department's Major Crimes Bureau, working alongside the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, to obtain a search warrant for Taele's residence in Downey.
Investigators said the search uncovered an illegally modified AR-platform rifle, a 1911 .45-caliber pistol, an AR-platform upper receiver, body armor, high-capacity magazines and large quantities of pistol and rifle ammunition.
Authorities also reported finding two radio signal devices and multiple notebooks containing what they described as "concerning statements."
The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force and the U.S. Secret Service.
Officials said the case was presented Tuesday to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
Additional charges could be filed as investigators continue reviewing the evidence.
Taele remains in custody.
Authorities said they have not identified a credible threat to the surrounding community but emphasized that the investigation remains active as federal and local agencies continue examining the circumstances surrounding the Arrest.
