Ben & Jerry’s is unveiling its new vegan ice cream flavor that it developed in collaboration with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
In a tweet on Thursday, the brand wrote, “We’ve teamed up with ! Introducing Change the Whirled Non-Dairy.”
It added, “The flavor that’s supporting the fight to dismantle systems of oppression and empower Black and Brown people. Coming to freezers in 2021!”
“I’ve teamed up with to serve up joy on the journey to justice,” Kaepernick wrote in a tweet.
He added, “Today, we’re excited to introduce Change the Whirled, a new non-dairy flavor that hits shelves in early-2021!”
In a blog post, the company said the new ice cream is cookie and caramel flavored and “100% vegan.”
“This flavor honors Colin’s activism in pursuit of racial justice,” it said.
The company also said some of the proceeds from purchases of the new ice cream will go to Know Your Rights Camp. The organization’s website says its goal is to further the “liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders.”
Kaepernick has been a vocal activist for racial justice.
