President Joe Biden suffered an unfortunate slip up while speaking about the value of democracy.
âLadies and gentlemen, today we remember, and we reaffirm freedom is worth the sacrifice,â Biden said during a Memorial Day speech.
He continued, âDemocracy is not perfect. Itâs never been good â perfect.â
He quickly corrected himself after realizing the error.
Finally, Biden said, âItâs worth fighting for.â

Biden has made the health of American democracy a major issue during his time in office.
During an event in Buffalo, New York, after a gunman killed 10 people in a supermarket, the president sound the alarm about the state of democracy.
âLook, the American experiment in democracy is in a danger like it hasnât been in my lifetime,â Biden said.
He added, âItâs in a danger this hour. Hate and fear have been given too much oxygen by those who pretend to love America, but who donât understand America.â
In case you missed it:
In December, he held a Summit for Democracy in which 80 world leaders participated.
âThis is an urgent matter on all our parts, in my view, because the data weâre seeing is largely pointing in the wrong direction,â Biden said as he pointed to studies that show democracy is in decline around the world.
The president added, âIn the face of sustained and alarming challenges to democracy, universal human rights, and, all around the world, democracy needs champions.â
He also said, âAmerican democracy is an ongoing struggle to live up to our highest ideals and to heal our divisions; to recommit ourselves to the founding idea of our nation captured in our Declaration of Independence.â
