President-electĀ Joe Biden is advising PresidentĀ Donald Trump to follow in former New Jersey Gov.Ā Chris ChristieāsĀ footsteps and urge Americans to wear masks.
āI give former Governor Chris Christie credit. He and I have disagreed on a number of things, but Iām thankful heās now encouraging people to do the right thing and wear masks their themselves, their loved ones, and their country. I hope that President Trump will listen to him,ā Biden said while delivering remarks in Wilmington, Delaware, on Tuesday.
He added, āHe can do it too. It would make a huge difference for President Trump to say, āWear masks.'ā

Christie, a Republican, released a video earlier this month encouraging Americans to wear masks just months after he was treated for COVID-19.
āYou know, lying in isolation in ICU for seven days, I thought about how wrong I was to remove my mask at the White House. Today, I think about how wrong it is to let mask-wearing divide us,ā Christie said.
He continued, āYouāre twice as likely to get COVID-19 if you donāt wear a mask because if you donāt do the right thing we could all end up on the wrong side of history. Please wear a mask.ā

Christie admitted he was āwrongā for not wearing a mask during an event honoringĀ Supreme Court JusticeĀ Amy Coney Barrett, as IJR previously reported.
āI believed when I entered the White House grounds, that I had entered a safe zone, due to the testing that I and many others underwent every day,ā Christie said in a statement in October.
He went on, āI was wrong. I was wrong not to wear a mask at the Amy Coney Barrett announcement and I was wrong not to wear a mask at my multiple debate prep sessions with the president and the rest of the team.ā
During an interview with CNN on Sunday, Dr. Anthony Fauci shared Bidenās concern āthat as we get into the next few weeks, it might actually get worse,ā as IJR previously reported.
