President Joe Biden seemed to slip up his words during a speech to voters.
On Thursday, Biden said, “Are you ready to choose unity over division? Dignity over demolition? Truth over lies? Are you ready to choose freedom over democracy? Because that’s America.”
The president then admitted he had been “doing this a long—,” before adding, “I know I only look like I’m 40, but I’ve been doing this a long time.”
His remarks were at an event in Pennsylvania where he was accepting re-election endorsement from the Kennedy family.
However, the White House’s transcript of the speech corrects Biden’s apparent mistake, “Are you ready to choose freedom over democracy? Because that’s America.”

Biden’s gaffe sparked reaction on X, formerly known as Twitter:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. responded earlier Thursday to his family members’ upcoming endorsement of Biden for re-election.
He wrote on X: “I hear some of my family will be endorsing President Biden today. I am pleased they are politically active — it’s a family tradition. We are divided in our opinions but united in our love for each other.”
Per Real Clear Politics’ latest polling on the 2024 presidential election, President Donald Trump holds 42.5% of support, while Biden is at 40.8% and Kennedy is at 7.9%.
