It was no Sermon on the Mount, but President Joe Biden slid in a jab at former President Donald Trumpās Bible.
The presidential mocking centered on Trumpās role in overturning Roe V. Wade, a move that removed abortion rights, per the HuffPost.
āHe described the Dobbs decision as a miracle,ā Biden said. Biden was referring to the Supreme Court case that overturned Roe V. Wade.
āMaybe itās coming from that Bible heās trying to sell. I almost wanted to buy one just to see what the hellās in it,ā Biden said.
āFolks, it was no miracle. It was a political deal ā¦ he made with the evangelical base of the Republican Party to look past his moral and character flaws in exchange for his commitment to appoint justices to the Supreme Court who would overturn Roe.ā
Trump has been promoting the āGod Bless the USA Bibleā along with country singer Lee Greenwood.
The Bible costs $60 and includes the Pledge of Allegiance, the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
Some posted their approval of Bidenās words on X, formerly Twitter.
In promoting the Bible during Holy Week, Trump said, āIām proud to endorse and encourage you to get this Bible. We must make America pray again.ā
However, it may take an act of God to get better reviews and complaints of sticky pages, the outlet reported.
The Supreme Courtās overturning of Roe V. Wade was due, in part, to three justices appointed by Trump that now represent the conservative majority on the bench.
That decision has led to abortion bans in more than a dozen states, the HuffPost reported.
āTrump bragged how proud he was to get rid of Roe v Wade. He took credit for it,ā Biden said. āHe said āthere has to bepunishmentā for women exercising reproductive freedom.ā
In 2016, Trump spoke of punishing women who get abortions. He has since reversed that position and now says states should punish doctors who perform abortions.
