President Joe Biden is deploying a new technique to try to take attention away from the way he walks.
Axios reported on Friday that Biden has started having aides walked with him from the White House to Marine One, instead of making the walk by himself.
āWith aides usually walking between Biden and journalistsā camera position outside the White House, the visual effect is to draw less attention to the 81-year-oldās halting and stiff gait,ā Axios reported.
It noted, āSome Biden advisers have told Axios theyāre concerned that videos of Biden walking and shuffling alone ā especially across the grass ā have highlighted his age.ā
And the presidentās aides reportedly believe that since the change was implemented, it has helped the imagery of his walk to the helicopter and they think it should continue.
The addition of the walking aides is just the latest in a series of steps to try to prevent imagery that raises concerns about his age.
Biden has also started wearing shoes with more support to try to avoid falling incidents, and he has routinely uses shorter stairs to enter Air Force One to avoid the chance he will fall.
