Biden Off Harris’ List of Top Effective Presidents

Former Vice President 👤Kamala Harris did not include her old boss — former President 👤Joe Biden — when asked to list the “most effective presidents in American history.”

Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League, posed that question to Harris Friday night.

“In your view, rank the top three most effective presidents in American history,” he said.

“Oh Marc, don’t make me do that,” Harris said. She then named Franklin Roosevelt.

“He did some good things,” she said. “In fact, it was he who talked about the expansion of the Supreme Court, and then he got ferocious… blowback for that. Social Security. When I think about what he did in terms of investing in the people during dire times and talking about the role and responsibility of government, that it should not just be about the benevolence of community organizations or just interpersonal relationships. The government has a role. I think he was a very important president.”

Two and three on the list were John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson.

“I credit Kennedy, of course, in terms of what he laid the groundwork for,” Harris said. “And then Johnson followed up on.”

She later tacked on Barack Obama.

“And then of course, Barack Obama and what he did with the Affordable Care Act, among many things,” she said. “But in particular, if we had one issue that’s been ailing America for generations, which is a healthcare system that has failed anyone other than the rich, and addressing the way that he did and took a lot of heat for it, I think he’s one of the greatest presidents.”

Biden didn't make the list.

Harris became the Democratic nominee in 2024 after Biden dropped his reelection bid following a disastrous debate with current President Donald Trump.

Harris then ran an abbreviated campaign using some of Biden’s campaign staffers. She ended up losing both the electoral vote count and the popular vote to Trump.

Now, pundits are speculating she might run for president in 2028.

In her book released last year, Harris wrote Biden, who is 83, made the “reckless” decision to run again because of his “ego.”
