Bruce Springsteen took center stage over the weekendâbut not just for a concert. The aging rocker veered off-script during a Saturday night performance, dedicating a song to a far-left activist killed while attempting to ram an ICE agent with her SUV, and launching into a fiery anti-ICE, anti-law enforcement rant that echoed progressive talking points.
The 76-year-old performer paused his show to honor Renee Good, a 37-year-old activist who died after driving her vehicle toward federal agents during a confrontation in Minneapolis on January 7. Springsteen described Good as âmurderedâ by ICE, despite official reports confirming she accelerated toward ICE Agent Jonathan Ross, forcing him to fire in self-defense.
In a longwinded diatribe, Springsteen warned the crowd that American ideals were âunder attack,â claiming that âtruth,â âliberty,â and âdemocracyâ were being threatened by âheavily armed masked federal troopsâ using âGestapo tactics.â He urged fans to send a message to the president, repeating Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Freyâs call for ICE to âget the f*** out of Minneapolis.â
Springsteen then dedicated his song âThe Promised Landâ to Goodâs memory, calling her a âmother of three and American citizenâ who âdidnât deserve to be murdered.â
But details released by the Department of Homeland Security paint a very different picture. According to DHS reports, Good refused to comply with agentsâ commands to exit her vehicle, instead backing up and accelerating directly toward Agent Ross, who sustained internal bleeding during the encounter. Ross fired three shots to protect himself and others at the scene.
Despite the facts, Springsteen echoed the leftâs false narrative, painting Good as a peaceful protester and ICE as a violent threat to American democracy.
Springsteen, whoâs never shied away from injecting Politics into his performances, has grown increasingly hostile toward conservatives and Trump supporters. His frequent rants have alienated a chunk of his fanbaseâmany of whom just want to hear the music, not get lectured.
âBruce Springsteen has completely lost his mind,â one frustrated commenter posted last year. âHe goes full MSNBC instead of just playing the music people were there to hear. Entertainers are such narcissists.â
While Springsteen might see himself as a voice of the people, Saturdayâs outburst once again shows that heâs only speaking to one sideâand facts be damned.
