The MSNBC host acknowledged Biden’s handling of classified documents was “sloppy.”

She argued, “In the end, what is most important here is intent, willful intent to obstruct. What we know is that the Biden administration immediately handed over the documents, reached out to the National Archives to say, ‘Hey, we’ve got something here.’ We also know that Donald Trump held off, even in the face of a subpoena. Republicans are now telling us this is truly an important national security issue.”

On Wednesday, it was reported that aides to Biden discovered another set of classified documents separate from the ones found at the office he used following his vice presidency.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday he appointed a special counsel to investigate the documents.

“We have cooperated closely with the Justice Department throughout its review, and we will continue that cooperation with the special counsel,” Richard Sauber, a lawyer for Biden, said.

He added, “We are confident that a thorough review will show that these documents were inadvertently misplaced, and the president and his lawyers acted promptly upon discovery of this mistake.”
