Conservative commentator Candace Owens is taking heat for her understanding of the Muslim Quarter in Jerusalem, Israel.
During a segment of her show, Owens noted her grandfather grew up with segregation in the American South.
āAnd so, when Iām walking through Jerusalem and they say, these are the Muslim Quarters, this is where the Muslims are allowed to live, that doesnāt feel like a bastion of freedom to me,ā she stated.
However, her guest interjected, āI donāt think itās where theyāre allowed to live in Jerusalem.ā
āThereās an Armenian Quarter. Itās not saying the Armenians can only live here. Itās that there are communities just like thereās a Jewish community in Jersey here, and thereās a Muslim community in here,ā he added.

Owensā claim Muslims are only allowed to live in the Muslim Quarter drew criticism on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantisā (R) rapid response director Christina Pushaw wrote, āHow about the Latin Quarter in Paris. Set them free!!!!ā
Meanwhile, the New York Postās Jon Levine chimed in, āThe stupidity here is pretty mind-blowing.ā
āCandace Owens legit thought the āMuslim quarterā is where Muslims are permitted to live,ā wrote Commentary Magazineās Seth Mandel.
National Reviewās Philip Klein quipped, āThe real outrage is that she is focusing all her attention overseas, when right here in America today, French people cannot live outside a certain neighborhood in New Orleans.ā
Conservative writer Emily Zanotti chimed in, āIf you look closely, you can actually see the two synapses in her brain attempting to spark. Itās fleeting. But itās there.ā

The Old City in Jerusalem is divided into four so-called quarters made up of separate communities: the Muslim Quarter, the Christian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter, and the Armenian Quarter.
However, they are not areas where the Israeli government people them to live.
