Radio host Charlamagne Tha God said Thursday that it was âhighly hypocriticalâ for President Joe Biden to warn about the threat of âoligarchyâ during his Wednesday farewell address.
Biden delivered a 16-minute speech in which he heavily focused on what he believed President-elect Donald Trumpâs second term could bring to America and warned of an âoligarchyâ he said is forming that âliterally threatens our entire democracy.â When asked for his reaction on âThe Breakfast Club,â Charlamagne pointed out that politicians across the spectrum have long accepted financial support from political action committees (PACs) and corporations.

âI think itâs highly hypocritical for any elected official in America to talk about oligarchy when all of them have been puppets for these PACs and corporate donations for years. You know, thatâs something that you hear Bernie Sanders talking about and John Fetterman talking about â how you gotta take all of this corporate money out of Politics.â
Charlamagne then suggested that billionaire Elon Musk, who became a Trump supporter during the 2024 presidential campaign, is only different from other wealthy political donors because of how open he is to the public. In this sense, the radio host compared Musk to rapper and entrepreneur Sean âDiddyâ Combs.
âElon Musk is just the person thatâs out there ⌠I was likening Elon Musk to Diddy, which sounds crazy now, but what Iâm talking about is the fact that he likes to be all up in the videos, all on the records,â Charlamagne said. âHeâs always tweeting; heâs the face of it right now. But this has been going on for years.â
Biden also expressed worries regarding âthe potential rise of a tech industrial complexâ during his speech. Since Trumpâs November victory, several tech companies, including Google, Meta and Microsoft have contributed to his inaugural fund.
âIt could pose real dangers for our country as well. Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation, enabling the abuse of power, the free press is crumbling,â the president said. âEditors are disappearing. Social media is giving up on fact checking. The truth is smothered by lies, both for power and for profit.â
