During a recent podcast interview on the Mayim Bialik podcast âBreakdown,â child star now-turned-race car driver, Frankie Muniz discussed living a completely sober life and never having had alcohol.
According to People Magazine, the âMalcom in the Middleâ star admitted, âIâve still never had a sip of alcohol.â
When asked if that was his family tradition, he laughed and stated, âEvery family member in my family drinks. And thatâs what they do for fun.â
He added, âI tried to figure out why I didnât, because I donât have a reason. It wasnât, like, a religion.â
Then Muniz noted, âWhen I was 15, 16 years old, I felt like I was so old. I had experienced so much. And I had experienced a lot in my life in comparison to most 15- or 16-year-olds.â
âBut even though I was in the entertainment business, I never saw , meaning the drug use, any of that stuff. I somehow stayed away,â he continued.Â
He explained that while working in Hollywood, âI just went to the set and did my thing.â
He admitted, âI grew up thinking the only people who smoked pot were criminalsâŚon episodes of âCops.â
Muniz also described how his perception changed over the years, but his habits didnât. He said, âIn my mind, I felt like I had made it so long without it, I was like, âWell, Iâm not going to start now, even though I was only 18.â
He also described how abstaining from drinking is considered weird, even though it is just a personal choice.
âI was always kind of like, âItâs so weird that people have such a strong reaction to me not drinking,â he said.Â
âLike, who cares? âI donât care what you do. Why do you care so much about me?â I donât know if I made a conscious decision, but it just stuck with me that I was never gonna drink or do anything,â he concluded.Â
