Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) has landed himself an endorsement from a senior House Democrat for his 2020 presidential bid.
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) announced on Wednesday that he was tossing in his support behind the former vice president.
“I know Joe Biden,” Clyburn tweeted in his announcement, adding, “In South Carolina, we choose presidents. I’m calling on you to stand with .”

Following the announcement, Biden tweeted, “Jim Clyburn is a voice of powerful moral clarity that is heard loud and clear across this country — in our capital and beyond. He reminds us why we’re in public service in the first place — and I’m proud to have his support.”
Clyburn has recently warned that if Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) were to become the party’s nomination, Democrats would be at risk of losing the majority in the House of Representatives, as IJR previously reported.
He told ABC News on Sunday he believes it would be “an extra burden for us to have to carry.”
As for the national polls, Sanders is the frontrunner currently with Biden trailing behind him. With the South Carolina Democratic primary coming up on Saturday, Biden appears hopeful with his chances of winning there — as RealClearPolitics poll shows him leading in the state.
