SiriusXM host John Fugelsang was scratching his head when he heard President Donald Trump was compared to Jesus Christ.
The comparison was made by an advisor at an Easter event, per Mediaite.
Fugelsang, comedian and author of the book āThe Separation of Church and Hate,ā talked about the comparison on āMorning Joeā Friday morning.
Fugelsang seized the opportunity by taking a shot at both the president and White House faith adviser Paula White.
āWatching that, Iām reminded that the only way you can support both Donald Trump and Jesus is if youāve never read either one of their books, he said. āBecause, friends, the only things Donald Trump has in common with Jesus is that they both spent a lot of time with prostitutes, and they both use ghostwriters.ā
Fugelsang continued to discuss the importance of Holy Week and accused White of ācapitulatingā to the president like a king.
āThis homeless, Jewish mystic faith healer is virtually mocking the pomp that surrounds the armies of Caesar. Because youāre either standing up to Caesar or youāre capitulating to him like Paula White,ā he said. āSo by two days later, heās having the rebellion inside the temple, the protests that heās flipping tables over the way that some extreme conservative religious bosses collaborated with the empire to exploit the poor.ā
āAnd then by Holy Thursday, the night heās arrested, he gives the greatest parable. He gives the goats and the sheep where he says, individuals and nations are going to be judged heaven or hell by how they care for the poor, care for the sick, welcome the stranger, and take care of those in prison. They arrest him, and by the end of the week, itās the saddest story youāve ever read,ā he added.
At the White House event earlier this week, White directly compared the president to Jesus.
āMr. President, no one has paid the price like you have paid the price. It almost cost you your life. You were betrayed and arrested. And falsely accused,ā she said,
āItās a familiar pattern that our Lord and Savior showed us. But it didnāt end there for Him, and it didnāt end there for you. God always had a plan.
On the third day, He rose, He defeated evil, He conquered death, hell, and the grave. And because He rose we all know that we can rise.
āAnd sir, because of His resurrection you rose up.ā
