Jasmine Crockett â or as some on the left seem to think of her, the next great political mind of our time. If by âgreatâ you mean loud, fact-challenged, and fueled entirely by vibes, then sure. Letâs crown her already.
This week, she took to the House floor to deliver what she clearly thought was a mic-drop moment: a rapid-fire list of GOP names supposedly tied to âsomebody named Jeffrey Epstein.â Sound serious? Scandalous? Scorching? Yeah, one problem. Wrong Epstein.
Turns out, the âsomebody named Jeffrey Epsteinâ she was breathlessly accusing of funding everyone from Mitt Romney to George W. Bush wasnât that Jeffrey Epstein â not the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier whose name you donât toss around lightly. No, she smeared her political opponents with donations traced to an entirely different Epstein. Because why bother verifying your facts when youâve got a House floor and a microphone, right?
This is the level of discourse now. Just throw out a scandalous name, shrug when itâs the wrong person, and pivot to a âthe FEC filings are out thereâ line like youâve just delivered some smoking gun. Itâs political Mad Libs, Democrat edition â insert villain name here, attach it to your enemies, and hope nobody checks the details.
But itâs not like this is a one-off. Rep. Crockett has made a name for herself by going full performance mode every time a camera turns on. Last year, she casually agreed â in public â with a claim that Republicans âwant poor people to die as quickly as humanly possible.â Thatâs not an exaggeration. She literally responded âI agreeâ when that line was delivered at a town hall. And this is someone being paraded around as the partyâs future?
Letâs not forget the now-infamous âGovernor Hot Wheelsâ moment, either. Crockett stood at a Human Rights Campaign event and mocked Texas Governor Greg Abbott â a man whoâs been in a wheelchair since a tragic accident in his twenties â and called him âGovernor Hot Wheels.â And just to make sure everyone caught the tone, she added, âThe only thing hot about him is that he is a hot-a** mess, honey.â Real classy.
Of course, when the backlash came, she insisted she wasnât making fun of his disability. Uh-huh. Totally believable⌠except for the part where she had recently liked and shared a post mocking Abbott specifically for rolling up to the White House in his wheelchair. Oops. So much for plausible deniability.
This isnât just about one out-of-line comment. Itâs a pattern. A pattern of disrespect, misinformation, and media-enabled immunity. Because if a Republican said even half of this â imagine a GOP rep misidentifying a major Democratic donor and falsely tying them to scandal, or mocking a disabled Democratâs mobility device with a cheeky nickname â the media would be staging emergency roundtables and calling for resignations before dinner.
But when Jasmine Crockett does it? Crickets. Or worse, applause.
Letâs be clear: Crockettâs behavior isnât some edgy political style. Itâs not courageous truth-telling. Itâs reckless, juvenile, and yes, mean-spirited. And yet the left keeps holding her up like sheâs some sort of cultural icon, all because she screams loud enough and plays to their favorite narrative: Republicans bad, facts optional.
If this is the âfutureâ of the Democratic Party, it says a lot. It says they value noise over nuance, drama over decorum, and petty one-liners over public service. Maybe it plays well on TikTok, but itâs not serious leadership. And while Crockett chases clout, the rest of us are left shaking our heads, wondering when the adults are going to retake the room.
