Conservative talk show host Ben Ferguson sparred with CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers on Wednesday over which side is to blame for the recent attacks on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The alleged shooter, Joshua Jahn, opened fire into the ICE facility in Dallas, Texas, and killed two detainees before taking his own life from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Ferguson and Sellers argued over who the real target was, given that the shooter engraved the message, āANTI-ICEā into the bullet casing.
āThis is the third attack weāve seen in Texas. In the same district, as the man in charge today was saying, this is the second time heās had to have a press conference today,ā Ferguson began.
āWho was killed today?ā Sellers asked. āWho was killed today? ⦠Donāt put words in my mouth. Yeah, who was killed today?ā
Two illegal immigrants died as a result of the shooting, while no ICE agents were killed. Ferguson stated that no innocent people should be shot, but that Democratic politiciansā hateful rhetoric towards law enforcement is influencing a rise in attacks.

āIām saying that the division that you all are sowing in this countryāā Sellers began.
āIām not sowing anything, Iām saying protect all law enforcement. Gavin Newsom went on TV last night and did you see what he said? ICE agents are authoritarian. You donāt think that inspired someone to do that?ā Ferguson asked.
Sellers then accused Vice President J.D. Vance of creating division in the U.S. by calling on Democratic politicians to stop demonizing ICE agents during his speech in North Carolina on Wednesday. Ferguson argued that conservatives are not the ones carrying out most of the politically motivated attacks.
āWeāre not shooting people. Weāre not shooting people. The left is shooting people and theyāre being inspired by people. I have a friend who got shot and assassinated two weeks ago,ā Ferguson said, referencing the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. āIām a little hot on this one because you guys have been irresponsible with the rhetoric. It is coming out from people on the left.ā
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom labeled ICE as the ālargest private domestic armyā and argued that the agentsā arrests are part of President Donald Trumpās so-called āauthoritarian tendenciesā during a Tuesday appearance on āThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert.ā Several other DemocratsĀ have made disparaging remarks about ICE since Trumpās crackdown on illegal immigration began in January, including Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who stated that ICE is Trumpās āmodern-day gestapo.ā
Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stated in May that ICE is a ārogue agency that should not existā and Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett compared ICE agents to āslave patrolsā during a Friday appearance on MSNBC. Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar said on Aug. 25 that ICE is ābeyond reform and should be abolished.ā
The latest incident follows other violent attacks on ICE facilities since President Donald Trump took office. Authorities have charged at least 11 individuals in connection to an ambush on an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas, in July, which led to the injury of a police officer who was shot in the neck.
An active shooter also shot at Border Patrol agents at a facility in McAllen, Texas, in July.
