Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said United States military action against Cuba could lead to a “bloodbath.”

Díaz-Canel’s warning comes after an Axios report where a U.S. official m said Cuba had more than 300 military drones from Russia and Iran.

According to the report, the drones could be used to attack the U.S. Naval base in Guantanamo Bay in addition to other American interests.

The report also said Cuba secured the attack drones and had discussed using them on U.S. interests — and even Key West, Florida, which is located 90 miles from Havana.

Díaz-Canel denied claims Cuba poses any danger to the U.S., writing on social media that Cuba does not threatens any country.

He warned any U.S. aggression would carry severe consequences.

Should the U.S. refrain from military action against Cuba to avoid severe consequences?

“The threats of military aggression against Cuba from the world’s greatest power are well-known,” he wrote. “The threat itself already constitutes an international crime. If it were to materialize, it would trigger a bloodbath with incalculable consequences, plus the destructive impact on regional peace and stability.”

An unnamed U.S. official told Axios the threat level from Cuba toward the U.S. has risen as a result of the development of drone warfare and the presence of Iranian military advisors in Havana.

The official said there are threats posed by “a range of bad actors” ranging from terror groups and Mexican drug cartels, Iranians and Russian advisers

Marc Caputo, the reporter who broke the story, said U.S. intelligence collected Cuban officials’ “chatter” discussing whether and how to launch an attack.

“There’s no belief that there’s an imminent attack, nor does the United States say that it is imminently planning to attack Cuba,” he said Monday on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.”

Cuba’s foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez, accused the U.S. government of building “a fraudulent case … without any legitimate excuse whatsoever … to justify the ruthless economic war against the Cuban people and the eventual military aggression.”
