CNNâs Chris Cuomo tore into his own networkâs reporting that President Joe Bidenâs administration is âstarting from scratchâ on a COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan.
CNN reported on Thursday that Bidenâs White House is âinheriting no coronavirus vaccine distribution plan to speak of from the Trump administration.â It quotes a source saying, âThere is nothing for us to rework. We are going to have to build everything from scratch.â
Cuomo interviewed Dr. Anthony Fauci on Thursday night â who was a member of the Trump White House coronavirus task force and is now Bidenâs chief medical adviser.
During âCuomo Prime Time,â Cuomo said, âAnother thing that I donât buy comes out of our reportingâŠthat people in the administration say theyâre starting from scratch with the vaccine. No, theyâre not!â
Cuomo continued, âYou have an infrastructure out there that youâre well aware of that has to be improved. But they shouldnât get any benefit of a low bar here either.â
âAre they gonna scrap it or are they going to build on it, make it better?â he asked Fauci.
Fauci said, âNo, no theyâre not going to scrap it,â adding with a laugh, âI was involved in the development of that stuff. They were not going to scrap that.â

Fauci earlier that day said at a White House press briefing, âWe certainly are not starting from scratch because there is activity going on in the distribution.â
The nationâs top infectious disease expert also said during that briefing that he feels different speaking about the pandemic under Bidenâs administration than Trumpâs, as IJR reported.
He said, âThe idea that you can get up here and talk about what you know, what the evidence, what the science is and know thatâs it, let the science speak, it is somewhat of a liberating feeling.â
Fauci has said that Bidenâs goal of 100 million vaccinations in the first 100 days is âabsolutely a doable thing.â
