A Grinch in Texas attempted to steal children’s Christmas spirit by suggesting that ā€œSanta is fake.ā€

David Grisham faced backlash from parents and school administrators after he dressed as the Grinch with a sign outside of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School in Amarillo, telling children ā€œSanta is Fake. Jesus is Real,ā€ according to ABC7 News.

One parent told the outlet Grisham ā€œshouldn’t be pushing his agendaā€ on other people’s children, while another parent took Grisham’s sign and tossed it on the ground.

Sleepy Hollow Principal Kelsey Williams informed the outlet Grisham had been ā€œunwanted and uninvited.ā€

ā€œI’m saddened by the fact that some of our kiddos and families were frightened because of him,ā€ Williams told the outlet.

While the Amarillo Police Department (APD) was called, officers told the outlet that they didn’t arrest Grisham because he was ā€œlawfully on the sidewalkā€ and had not broken any law.

Upon being asked by the outlet if Grisham knew why parents were upset, he acknowledged that he understood.

ā€œI understand why they’re upset. They’re upset because they’re prideful and don’t want to admit that lying to their child is wrong in spite of what God’s word says,ā€ Grisham told the outlet. ā€œThey’re more concerned with the traditions of men rather than the truth. And they double down on the lie because of pride and they are angry because they want to blame the person telling the truth than the one who told the lie that prompted the truth to expose the lie.ā€

Grisham added that he was ā€œnot concernedā€ about ruining the ā€œmagicā€ of the Christmas holiday for the children because the miracle is ā€œin the virgin birth of Jesus Christ.ā€

IJR reached out to the Amarillo Police Department for a comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
