Gun control activist David Hogg suggested during a Sunday morning MS NOW appearance that merely arguing Renee Good may have been in the wrong when she was allegedly fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent amounts to âdangerousâ rhetoric.
The ousted Democratic National Committee (DNC) vice chair repeatedly used the word âdangerousâ to refer to Vice President JD Vance and other Trump administration officials making the case the ICE agent shot Good in self-defense Wednesday in Minneapolis. On the day of the shooting, Assistant Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said Good was âattempting to run over our law enforcement officersâ and the agent fired the fatal shot âfearing for his life.â DHS Secretary Kristi Noem likewise likened Goodâs last actions to âdomestic terrorism.â
âI just think about how incredibly dangerous this rhetoric is, regardless of what she wants to say about this person, they were calling her a domestic terrorist before her body was cold,â Hogg, 25, told âThe Weekendâ co-host Eugene Daniels on Sunday. âThat is so dangerous for the government to be doing that. Across the board, we all should be agreeing that there needs to be an investigation here, before we have anybody in the Executive Branch coming and saying, âWell, this is exactly who she was.ââ
âYou had people like JD Vance, the vice tyrant of the United States, going out there and saying, âThis person is a domestic terrorist,ââ Hogg continued. âI would argue, if youâre going to be the vice president of the United States, and say that, âYouâre going to need to show US more evidence than we can find ourselves on Twitter,â at a bare minimum.â
WATCH:
âAnd it is so, so dangerous, especially when somebody like JD Vance goes out there, before there is even an investigation that has concluded or, frankly, even barely started, and not only calls her a domestic terrorist, but goes out there and says that ICE has not just qualified immunity but absolute immunity,â Hogg added. âWhich is insane.â
âAnd itâs not like he doesnât know better. This man went to Yale Law, right?â he continued. âItâs not like heâs old and has dementia like our president probably has right now. He actually is out there with his JD and knows exactly what heâs saying, which is pure propaganda at this point.â
Vance said during a White House press briefing Thursday, the day after the shooting, Good âtried to run somebody over with her car and the guy defended himself when it happened.â
âYou people in the media ⌠have been lying about this attack,â the vice president said. âEverybody whoâs been repeating the lie that this is some innocent woman who was out for a drive in Minneapolis when a law enforcement officer shot at her, you should be ashamed of yourselves.â
A viral video Alpha News posted to social media Friday shows the seconds that preceded the fatal shooting from an ICE officerâs perspective.
Goodâs wife, Rebecca, who was present at the time and place of the incident, can be heard in the video repeatedly telling an agent to âcome at US,â before appearing to shout âDrive, baby driveâ to Good before the deceased began to drive her vehicle in the agentâs direction.
Hogg made headlines months earlier over controversy surrounding his organization, Leaders We Deserve, announcing plans to run candidates against select incumbent House Democrats, and for having his tenure as a vice chairs terminated by the DNC after just four months in the role.
