During her podcast Tuesday, SiriusXMâs Megyn Kelly, along with guests Mark Halperin and Dan Turrentine, called out corporate media pundits like Katie Couric for attempting to appeal to supporters of President-elect Donald Trump following his win against Vice President Kamala Harris.
On Monday morning, MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski revealed to their viewers that they had met with Trump, despite having repeatedly likened the former president to Adolf Hitler. They also alleged he would become a fascist dictator. On âThe Megyn Kelly Show,â Kelly played a recent clip of Couric telling MSNBCâs Jen Psaki that she had been frustrated by Harrisâ interview answers, as well as another clip in which Couric called out Trump supporters to HBO talk-show host Bill Maher.
âThe nerve, Dan, like, âTheyâre anti-intellectual.â Now sheâs like, âI really wish people had just paid more attention to them.â Sheâs like, âOh, now sheâs at Kamala Harris with her word salad answer,ââ Kelly said. âShe endorsed Kamala Harris. She openly endorsed Kamala, like, OK. I donât remember you being honest about her word salad.â
Kelly continued with another observation.
âSome of US endorsed candidates and also were able to be honest about their problem areas. That is what happened. Like, if you want to go into opinion journalism, you must continue to thread that needle or you should just declare your connection to journalism totally dead,â Kelly added.
Turrentine, a Democratic strategist, then jumped in to call out his partyâs response after he began speaking out against both President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris as the partyâs presidential nominees.
âThis one hits home for me because this was a tough last year for me as I started speaking out more kind of in the media as I joined the morning meeting. I got a lot of feedback from Democratic friends when I started speaking out,â Turrentine said. âThe number of Democrats on the Harris and Biden campaigns at the DNC and just in general, who sent letters or emails and texts saying like, âYouâre not being helpful.â Like, âWhat are you doing speaking honestly like this?â I just said, âLook guys, if you have data that shows Iâm wrong, like I will trumpet it anywhere and everywhere, but everything Iâm seeing is that she is struggling and Biden was struggling.ââ

âIt was obvious for all to see her weaknesses and frankly, the partyâs weaknesses. But there was such a collective, if we give an inch, itâs helping Trump and we canât dare do anything that doesnât prop her up to the point where I used to joke with people. âDo you want me to be Baghdad Bob and say the sun rises in the west every day?ââ Turrentine asked.
Kelly continued to highlight some of Couricâs story titles, noting that despite the criticism and claims against Trump prior to the election results, media outlets like ABC are reportedly searching for a conservative voice.
âKatie Couric now, whoâs having the come to Jesus moment. Here are some of her show names prior to the election: âGwen Walls on why this is the most important election of our lifetime. Why Donald Trump is a fascist and what that means. All about abortion and whatâs at stake in the 2024 election. How to save democracy with Jon Favreau and Tommy Vietor of Pod Save America,â left-leaning Obama guys,â Kelly said.
âSo hashtag part of the problem, Katie. You might try having on a Republican or somebody who actually does understand Trump,â Kelly said. âEven now, Mark, the solution over on places like ABC where you used to work is, âOh my God, we gotta find an actual Trump supporter and put them into the seventh chair on âThe View.â Thatâll do it. Talk about like a band-aid on a cancer.â
Halperin later joined the conversation, stating that while he was glad Trump won the popular vote âbecause it takes away the Democrats blaming not Kamala Harris, but the Electoral College,â he noted that corporate media canât make a complete â180â after labeling Trump as a fascist or Hitler.
Weeks before Election Day, corporate media and Harrisâ campaignappeared to ramp up their rhetoric against the former president, with Biden calling to âlock him upâ before quickly clarifying that he meant âpolitically.â
