A veteran Democrat is launching an uphill effort to remove Donald Trump from office, even as political headwinds and a tough reelection fight close in around him.
According to Fox News, Rep. John Larson, 77, unveiled a sweeping set of 13 articles of Impeachment on Monday, accusing President Donald Trump of a range of serious offenses tied to both foreign and domestic actions.
The move comes as Larson faces a growing challenge from younger candidates eager to block his bid for a 15th term in Congress.
At the center of Larson’s resolution are allegations tied to Trump’s military actions abroad, including intervention in Venezuela, as well as domestic policies such as deploying National Guard troops nationwide and signing an executive order aimed at restricting birthright citizenship.
Larson also accuses the president of committing “murder, war crimes and piracy” in connection with a naval blockade targeting oil tankers linked to Venezuela, along with strikes on suspected drug trafficking vessels.
