Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is rejecting former President Donald Trumpâs claim he won the 2020 election.
During an excerpt of an interview with NBC Newsâ Dasha Burns that aired on Monday, the Florida governor was asked, âYes or no, did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?â
âWhoever puts their hand on the Bible on January 20th every four years is the winner,â DeSantis responded.
However, Burns interjected, âOK but, respectfully, you did not clearly answer that question. And if you cannot give a yes or no on whether Trump lost then howâŚâ
âOf course, he lost,â DeSantis responded.
Burns asked again, âTrump lost the 2020 election?â
âJoe Bidenâs the president,â DeSantis responded.
He added, âBut the issue is⌠people in the media and elsewhere, they want to act like somehow this was just like the perfect election.â

The interview with air on NBC Nightly News on Monday.
Trump has repeatedly insisted he won the 2020 election, and it was stolen through fraud.
However, several recounts and legal challenges found no evidence to substantiate his claims.
Last week, Trump was indicted on charges stemming from Special Counsel Jack Smithâs investigations of efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
He has denied wrongdoing and insisted the charges are politically motivated.
