A new House Judiciary Committee report offers details describing how the Department of Homeland Security coordinated with Stanford University and āother entitiesā to censor Americans leading up to the 2020 Election.
The document explains how an āElection Integrity Partnershipā (EIP) was created to outsource āthe newly emerging censorship-industrial complex.āā
DHS allegedly outsourced this program to āa consortium of ādisinformationā academics led by Stanford Universityās Stanford Internet Observatory (SIO) that worked directly with the Department of Homeland Security and the Global Engagement Center, a multi-agency entity housed within the State Department, to monitor and censor Americansā online speech in advance of the 2020 presidential election.ā
This was reportedly created in July of 2020 and involved the Stanford Internet Observatory, the University of Washingtonās Center for an Informed Public (CIP), Graphika, and the Atlantic Councilās Digital Forensic Research Lab.
Their task was to flag posts containing information deemed ādisinformationā before they went viral. By September, DHS was focusing on sharing concerns regarding ādisinformationā postsāwhich challenged the information narrativeāwith law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
Concerns regarding who determines what is disinformation have been raised in recent years. According to The Federalist, although the Biden administration claimed ādisinformationā was a serious issue, President Joe Biden insisted that the Hunter Biden laptop story, alleging that his son had engaged in criminal activity, was ādisinformation.ā
Hunter Biden is now at the center of an investigation into numerous offenses, including unlawful ownership of a gun, money laundering, and influence peddling, per the Wall Street Journal. Just last month he was indicted on three felony gun charges and the case in ongoing.
House Judiciary Committee member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) posted about the conflict of interest to X, formerly Twitter, on Monday. He called out the DHS, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agence (CISA), the State Department, and Stanford University for working, āto censor AMERICANS before the 2020 Election, including true information, jokes, and opinions.ā
He also posted a list of the most targeted individuals, which included multiple reporters.
Those listed include the satirical news site The Babylon Bee, Fox News host Sean Hannity, editor of The Federalist Mollie Hemingway and former President Donald J. Trump.
