Rob Reiner made one final on-screen appearance before his death in a political comedy special starring Larry David, with the film's director describing the cameo as the late filmmaker's "last laugh" aimed at President Donald Trump.
According to Fox News, Reiner appeared in HBO's "Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America," which premiered over the Fourth of July weekend.
Director Jeff Schaffer told Variety the timing of the release was intentional.
"It's coming out on Fourth of July weekend, and if it in any way spoils a sad octogenarian's weekend, then oh well," Schaffer said.
In the sketch, Reiner portrays George Washington and announces he will not seek a third term as president. He also suggests Congress adopt a constitutional amendment limiting presidential power.
