You almost have to wonder if the Democratic Party is secretly trying to lose. Because if they arenāt, then boy, they sure are doing a convincing impression of a political death spiral.
Letās start with the numbers. In just four years, Democrats have bled more than two million registered voters across the 30 states that actually track registration. Republicans? Weāve gained 2.4 million. Thatās not a rounding error ā thatās a seismic shift. Combine that with their approval rating scraping the bottom of the barrel ā 35-year lows according to the Wall Street Journal, and one poll dropping them to a jaw-dropping 19 percent ā and youāve got a party that should be in full-on panic mode.
But instead of course-correcting, theyāre doubling down on everything that got them here.
Case in point: their big summer strategy meeting. Youād think, given the polling, given the hemorrhaging of voters, theyād open with a laser-focused plan to fix the economy, tackle crime, or maybe ā just maybe ā talk about the border crisis Americans keep screaming about. But nope. They kicked things off with a āland acknowledgment.ā Because nothing says āwe hear youā to struggling families like a symbolic lecture about indigenous territory before diving into more Trump-bashing.
It only gets worse.
DNC Chair Ken Martin fired up the crowd with what he clearly thought was a tough-guy pep talk: āIām sick and tired of this Democrat Party bringing a pencil to a knife fight!ā The crowd cheered, but letās pause. Since when have Democrats been the ones āplaying by the rulesā? Theyāve spent years bending, twisting, and flat-out rewriting them ā from censorship to lawfare to pushing illegal aliens into the voting pool. If thatās what pencils look like, Iād hate to see their knives.
But hereās the kicker: they still donāt get why voters are leaving. They think their problem is messaging, when the real problem is their policies. They obsess over Trump, scream about fascism, and cry about ādemocracy in danger,ā but when Americans look at their communities, what they actually see is skyrocketing crime, collapsing schools, and grocery bills that look like mortgage payments.
And if you thought it couldnāt get more embarrassing, just listen to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz ā their chosen VP candidate ā ranting about Trumpās āfat ankles.ā This is what passes for leadership in the Democratic Party? Juvenile name-calling about medical conditions while pretending Trump is the petty one? Someone should tell Walz that insulting the guy 77 million Americans voted for might not be the best way to win over swing voters.
Oh wait, thereās moreā¦unfortunately:
Meanwhile, Amy Klobuchar scolds her colleagues for the āwe suckā narrative, because apparently, acknowledging failure is worse than actually failing. Democrats are split on whether to admit theyāre a disaster ā not on how to stop being one. That tells you everything you need to know.
And then thereās the immigration debate. Klobuchar rolls out the tired line: āImmigrants donāt diminish America. They are America.ā Great. No oneās arguing against immigrants. Trumpās mother and wife were immigrants. The issue is illegal immigration ā the endless flood of people pouring across the border with no vetting, no accountability, and no respect for sovereignty. But Democrats keep intentionally blurring the lines, pretending anyone who raises concerns about illegals must be anti-immigrant. That might work in MSNBC greenrooms, but regular Americans know better.
Hereās the bottom line: Democrats are running the same tired playbook theyāve run for a decade. Demonize Trump, worship woke policies, ignore the actual problems people care about, and then scratch their heads when voters bail.
Itās the definition of insanity. And right now, Democrats donāt just look insane. They look like theyāre begging to lose ā and at the rate theyāre going, they just might get their wish.
