It was supposed to be a childrenâs literature class. You know â talking animals, fairy tales, maybe a few Dr. Seuss rhymes if weâre feeling wild. But instead, one Texas A&M student walked into what can only be described as a rainbow-washed reeducation camp for Gender Studies 101.
And now the Department of Justice is officially âlooking intoâ the incident, after videos surfaced showing the student being kicked out of class for daring to question the leftist sermon being preached by Dr. Melissa McCoul â a woman apparently convinced that discussing âqueernessâ and how to pick your gender identity is somehow critical to teaching books written for seven-year-olds.
Because of course.
In one of the clips â which would almost be funny if it werenât so disturbing â the student calmly explains that the content being forced on the class runs directly against his religious beliefs and violates directives from President Donald Trump regarding gender and DEI. McCoulâs response? A confident, smug dismissal that would make your average Twitter blue-check blush.
âI have legal and ethical authority,â she says, like some kind of woke wizard defending her rainbow tower. Then she kicks the student out â because disagreement, apparently, is hate speech.
Hereâs the part that should make every parentâs skin crawl: This wasnât some rogue comment slipped into a lecture. This was a full-blown curriculum.
Slides obtained by The Daily Wire show this class was neck-deep in the kind of ideological sludge most Americans thought was reserved for fringe Tumblr accounts and California school board meetings. One gem of a slide read, âLetâs talk gender in childrenâs lit!â â because naturally, the proper time to explore âanother genderâ is right after nap time and finger painting.
And it gets worse.
Another slide, which reads like a parody but is horrifyingly real, claimed that viewing LGBT content as inappropriate for kids is a symptom of âheteronormativity.â Yes, according to Dr. McCoul, you are the problem if you think drag queen story hour doesnât belong in a first-grade reading list.
Thatâs the logic on display here.
When Texas State Rep. Brian Harrison caught wind of this, he did what every taxpayer in the country should do: sound the alarm. He called it what it was â taxpayer-funded indoctrination dressed up as education. And he didnât stop there. Harrison fired off letters to Governor Abbott and top federal officials demanding accountability.
Because if Texas A&M â a school that once stood for something â is allowing this kind of radicalism to infect its classrooms under the label of âchildrenâs literature,â then whoâs next?
The DOJâs Civil Rights Division â now involved thanks to Assistant AG Harmeet Dhillon â says itâs taking this âdeeply concerningâ case seriously. But donât hold your breath for fireworks. This is the same DOJ thatâs been too busy chasing school board parents to notice half the nationâs classrooms have turned into workshops for leftist social engineering.
And whatâs the university doing in response?
A vague statement about âmisaligned curriculumâ and a promise to maybe, possibly, one day include more detailed course descriptions â in case you want a heads-up before your child gets lectured on âfiguring out how to be a boy, girl, man, woman, or another gender.â Comforting, right?
Texas A&M President Mark Welsh even admitted, in a call with the student, that thereâs nothing wrong with teaching LGBT literature⌠as long as you warn people first. Thatâs the bar now. Transparency â not accountability.
Letâs be clear: This wasnât education. It was activism. Plain and simple.
And if one brave student hadnât recorded the moment, if one lawmaker hadnât raised hell, it wouldâve been just another quiet victory for the leftâs long march through our institutions.
It should make every parent stop and ask: What exactly is your child being taught when you send them off to college? And how many professors like Dr. McCoul are standing at the front of the class, armed with PowerPoint slides and taxpayer funding, ready to rewrite your kidâs worldview before theyâve even opened a textbook?
Because itâs not just Texas A&M. And itâs not just one class.
