Donald Trump Jr. told Jewish Insider that certain anonymous Senate Republicans are âpussiesâ for privately criticizing Vice President JD Vance over his comments in a leaked Signal group chat between government officials.
Some GOP senators have been anonymously expressing annoyance over Vanceâs voicing doubt in the group chat that it was in the U.S.â best interest to attack Houthi targets in Yemen, JI reported Thursday. The report comes after The Atlantic Editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg published a piece on Monday describing how he had accidentally been added into the group chat with cabinet officials, where Vance expressed some reservations about the attacks.
âI am not sure the president is aware how inconsistent this is with his message on Europe right now,â Vance wrote in the Signal group chat, according to Goldberg. âThereâs a further risk that we see a moderate to severe spike in oil prices. I am willing to support the consensus of the team and keep these concerns to myself. But there is a strong argument for delaying this a month, doing the messaging work on why this matters, seeing where the economy is, etc.â
One anonymous GOP senator told JI that they found it âvery disappointingâ that Vance did not share their threat assessment with regard to the Houthis.
âA number of Republican senators are very concerned about ,â another anonymous GOP senator told JI. âThey think itâs quite revealing. It reveals a mindset that Iâm sure is perplexing to our European allies.â
In response, Trump Jr. slammed the anonymous Republican senators as âcowardlyâ in a statement shared with the outlet.
âThese seven cowardly neocons attacking J.D. anonymously are genuine pussies. If they really feel this way, then they should at least be man enough to put their names to these quotes,â Trump Jr. told JI. âThe fact that they are too cowardly to do that is exactly why Iâm so happy that these RINOs are a dying breed in our party â whether they realize it or not.â
A source familiar with the criticisms against Vance told the Daily Caller News Foundation that âSenate neocons were pushing this on at least one other outlet and the Jewish Insider was the only rag unserious enough to run these smears.â
